Samantha Brener is an associate at Kantor & Kantor. She has spent her career using the law to keep power in check and to improve the lives of her clients.

Immediately before joining Kantor & Kantor, Samantha worked as a lawyer with Edward Stone Law and an advocate for Retirees for Justice, where she used a range of tools, including arbitration and litigation, to fight for the protection of retirees and their pensions.

Samantha started her legal practice as an attorney with Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr, a law firm based in South Africa. She then transitioned to working for non-profits, first for the Legal Resources Center and then at SECTION27. During this time, she used the courts to further the promise of the Constitution of South Africa and specialized in protecting children’s rights to education.

Samantha has a Masters in Law (LL.M) in International Law and Justice from Fordham Law School. She received her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) and a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.), with honors, from the University of the Witwatersrand. Prior to entering practice, Samantha clerked for Justice Johan Froneman of the Constitutional Court of South Africa.

Her main hobby is taking on too many hobbies, most recently Cuban salsa, crochet, origami, and indoor gardening.

Corteva, Inc., No. 21-3966, 2024 WL 5159892 (December 18, 2024) (Favorable decision after bench trial finding that spun-off pensioners from the Dow-DuPont merger were entitled to Optional Retirement Benefits and that Defendants breached their fiduciary by misinforming the participants about the effect of the spin-off on their early and optional retirement benefits).
