make mental health & well-being for all a global priority

“We must strengthen mental health care so that the full spectrum of mental health needs is met through a community-based network of accessible, affordable and quality services and supports.

Stigma and discrimination continue to be a barrier to social inclusion and access to the right care; importantly, we can all play our part in increasing awareness about which preventive mental health interventions work and World Mental Health Day is an opportunity to do that collectively.

We envision a world in which mental health is valued, promoted and protected; where everyone has an equal opportunity to enjoy mental health and to exercise their human rights; and where everyone can access the mental health care they need.”

Kantor & Kantor supports the mental health awareness efforts and asks that you join in however you can and help create awareness for mental health needs. Our health insurance lawyers work diligently on behalf of clients with mental health needs to help resolve disputed claims so they can access the benefits they are entitled to.

Lisa Kantor, one of our founding partners, achieved, in 2007, the first published decision in California in which the court applied the state’s mental health parity law to beneficiaries who sought treatment outside of California. In 2012, Lisa obtained the first federal appellate court ruling that health plans in California must pay for all medically necessary treatment for severe mental illnesses, including residential treatment.

It didn’t stop there. In 2014, Lisa obtained a parallel state court appellate court ruling, extending coverage for all medically necessary treatment for severe mental illnesses to all residents of California. Kantor & Kantor’s advocacy for clients needing access to mental health benefits is a part of the values of who we are as a law firm and why we help our clients the way we do.
