July 16, 2018 – From the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention:

On Thursday July 13, the House Energy and Commerce Committee favorably reported H.R. 2345, the National Suicide Hotline Improvement Act, by voice vote to be considered by the whole House of Representatives.

The National Suicide Hotline Improvement Act would initiate a federal study on the effectiveness of the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (1-800-273-TALK) and the feasibility of determining three-digit phone number for a national suicide prevention and mental health crisis hotline system.

Thank you to those that have already contacted your Representative regarding the National Suicide Hotline Improvement Act. Even if you have already urged your Representative’s support, please do so again to ensure the swift passage of this important piece of legislation.
