Top Women Attorneys in Southern California for 2012

National legal rating service Super Lawyers has named Lisa Kantor and Corinne Chandler among its Top Women Lawyers in Southern California for 2012. Both lawyers were selected for their achievements representing people denied disability, long-term care, health or life insurance benefits, particularly those with disabling conditions such as eating disorders, autoimmune diseases, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, cancer and mental illness. The list, which honors lawyers based on peer recognition and professional achievement, appeared in the October issue of Los Angeles magazine.

Most recently, Ms. Kantor has focused her efforts litigating insurance company denials of coverage for treatment of eating disorders. In August, after Blue Shield’s repeated attempts for rehearing, Ms. Kantor won a Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruling that insurers must pay for all medically necessary treatment for people with mental illness.
Ms. Chandler’s current practice is devoted to representing insureds in actions involving life, disability and long-term care insurance benefits. She has litigated close to 500 such disputes and regularly obtains trial and appellate decisions overturning insurance company coverage denials and recovering benefits for policyholders.
